Mix 'n match calipers...???
I replaced my rear calipers last year and I know for sure that they are ATE. Just took the front wheels off to do front brakes.....BENDIX! I thought that if you had one system, you had one system.

VW,
Did you have the car since it was new? If you didn't, a PO could have changed either the front or rear calipers. I don't see any problem as long as the ones on the opposite sides of the car are the same. P E H |
Calibers:
My 84' {I am the second owner} has ATE on front and Bendix on rear. This is OK. Don't put one on one side and different brand on other side. Also If I rebuild calibers. I do both side's. That way pressure is the same.

I just thought it was a little odd. What are the differences anyway?

when I got my car it had 3 Bendix, 1 ATE. Now its got ATE in front and Bendix in rear. I can't tell any difference before, after, or anything at all. I would guess that since MB put both types on the cars, the specs are the same and they are interchangeable. RT

Rebuild kits
Where did you guys find your rebuild kits, Napa? I need a source.
|
Fishernam,
Did you try Fastlane or Partsshop? They are both in this website an dhelp support it. P E H |
Just placed 2 orders with Phil...
But I don't remember seeing the rebuild kits for calipers just rebuilt calipers for sale. I'll look again.

As an aside
Volvo used to (and maybe they still do) routinely have Ate for their rear brake calipers and Girling or Bendix for their front calipers. It is common practice...

Fastlane (Phil) has all kinds of stuff that you can't see on the web site. If you don't find it online, please call and ask.
