Evaporator replacement: Saw one in progress today
Was at my indy today getting a couple minor things done. In the shop was a W140 that was in the RE-construction phase after having the evap. replaced.
OMG!! If I ever had to pay the $2K to have that done, I'd feel guilty for paying so little! The level of dissasembly was mind numbing. Indy said the 140's were pretty bad about losing evaps compared to the 126's like mine....thank goodness. He mentioned that he had taken pix all thru the work to show the owner in case the owner gave him ANY grief over the amount of the repair bill. To anyone who thinks this job is overrated and shouldn't cost this much...you are mistaken, is all I can say.

I pulled out the AC evaporator in my soon to be daughter's 85 300D. Removed cosole and dash also replacing the entire wiring harness.
When my daughter saw the car with every thing out she said with a quiver in her voice "hope you can put it back" This one looked like dmorrisson's pic in a recent thread.
