bought a 300cd today

i got into my newly purchased 1983 300cd and I floored the accelerator as I am used to doing in my 300sdl, WOOOOW, my neck still hurts from the whiplash, the car is incredibly fast compared to my sdl, in fact when I got home I actually took another look into the the engine bay to make sure the car was in fact a diesel. I have heard alot made mention of the faster times and differences in models etc. but this is simply incredible. Now am I alone in my experiences or is this something that is more the norm. Excuse me while I go outside and hug my "new" car.

Yeah, I think the 300CD is a pretty quick diesel! It really didn't feel all that slow when I had my car!

Easily kept up with traffic and its acceleration from 60-80 is amazing!

I miss mine so much..

Congratulations!!!

Any pictures?

That was my reaction. Maybe something is amiss with the SDL. Are you sure the boost signal is reaching the ALDA?

nothing is wrong with the sdl, it just does not accelerate as quickly as the 300 cd I just got. don't get me wrong the sdl is fast but the difference between the two cars is phenomenal.

well i have been wanting to tinker with the alda (SDL), as I understand it, it is under the intake manifold as such it is hard to reach and I have tried to find thru previous posts which way to turn to boost. i figure the 300cd has had the benefit of an adjustment. I have been wanting to ask my INDY however he is is something akin to the soup nazi on seinfeld, he is very honest and extremely meticulous and runs an exceptional shop and i feel almost honored to be his customer. i would hate to hear "No Soup for You"!

or rather, No Boost for you!

my 300D and 300SDL are quite different off the line, with the definite edge to the sdl... your situation is throwing the cosmos into a dangerous mis-alignment. tune that flagship! (glad your cd moves!) ha ha

Moxwell,
Boost cannot be increased simply by turning up the ALDA. You can use a manual boost controller to increase boost in the intake. When you increase the boost, that is when the ALDA must be turned up to increase the fuel delivery to match the increased boost.

no boost for me, very clever,
you know, somehow reading thru all the posts I assumed it was merely a matter of turning it up a notch, I guess the recomendation is to have it done by a pro.
