I wonder if this was a test stand engine? Might answer why some of the missing pieces (except the starter)
The 617.952 swapped into my Unimog suposedly was a test stand engine from an Engineering Univ. in Germany. PO told me this "after I bought it". The stamped engine number seems to support this too so I was told by folk in here.

I got the e-mail back from the seller. They say it's a new engine and has been sitting for 3 months.
I asked who/where the builder was.... Mabye they will let us know. |

though my baby just passed 188K today

Would be a real shame to run that engine on the open road and dirty and grimy it all up.
I did not see a warranty from the builder. Maybe a bit more of a discount would be in order. |
