722.118 tranny questions

I am transplanting a 1981 617.912 300D non-turbo engine an its 722.118 auto trans into a 1982 300TD wagon which has a blown engine and I am told that the trans in that car was slipping in second gear.
The donor car ran fine and the trans felt really good, this set up was in a 1979 300D at the time so it looks like this engine has out lived 2 cars and is ready to serve in its 3rd car!!!
When I pulled the trans from the donor I was very happy to see a date written on it in marker, 2-26-97 could it be a re-build date???
Here are two questions about the trans:

When I rejoin the engine anfd trans is there any secret alignment of the torque converter that I need to look for?

There currently is NOT a vacuum modulator on the trans, where it should be is a bolt (plug?) What is the story there?

Crusher, how do you plan on providing a pump for the self levelling rear suspension that the wagon will have? I believe all the TD engines have a different head.

G'luck with the swap

I have 2 plans for that:
Plan A: Swap the entire rear end and install the sedan end thus doing away with the self leveling function and crazy expensive auto leveling system parts..ie one strut is leaking, struts are $275 EACH>>>

Plan B: Use an electric pump to run the system
