OT- tailight lenses?

Today, I saw a W126 300SD and 560SEL parked next to each other. I noticed the 560SEL's tailights were brighter looking than the 300SD's. I then blamed it on soot. But then again, I've seen 280S(E)(L)s, 500SELs, and other 79-85 W126 gassers whose tail lights are as dark as a diesel's are. It seems like the W126s from 86-91,(94 in South Africa) tail light lenses are brighter. Has anyone else noticed this?
-Joe

Nope, I don't pay much attention to those gas powered MBs!

So you're willing to get an 04 Jetta as well, huh?! I haven't heard of any good reasons to go for one with the new PD. They have more emissions crap on them and get less mileage than the older version does, the older version is also quite modifiable and increases mileage while doing so. I wouldn't mind getting an 99-03 Jetta TDI in the near future. I like to get the later years of the model because they normally have the problems ironed out by then.

I've been meaning to modify my signiture lately. I've decided to keep my 300SD. It needs a little fixing up and a paint job. But it's a good car.

Yea, I'm sort of on that same page. I was getting quite fed up with my 83 but after driving it a short while I'll make it work a year or so longer. I was looking for a Jetta within a few months before, now it is more so just keeping my eyes open for a good deal.
