just bought a 280ce on ebay
hello, I just bought a 280ce for 1300.00 and what motivated me to buy it was gray market car with low mileage and had the higher horsepower engine. Something that took me aback when I got it in is that it has the automatic shift on the steering column and not on the floor. this is the first mercedes that I have seen like this. Is this something that is only on the euros or is it an option. I currently am having the car repainted, it has the cloth interior and I was wondering if anyone can recomend a shop that has the seat covers? thanks!

All US-spec W123s had floor shifters. I thought only W123s with a front bench seat came with column shifters. Most but not all LWBs I've see have a front bench and column shifter.

the column shift is very interesting dose it have a center consil how about some interior Photos. There are lots of leather and MB tex seats on Ebay they usally don't bring much I think because of shipping cost.I found a nice set of MBtex front seats for 50 dollars and they were close enough (Portland) to pick up..........

no center console, it has the european ac and cloth/vinyl seats, roll up windows, had a bit of rust and MAACO currently has it and it is being painted the original silver color. thanks for the post. I will post pics of it as soon as it comes out of its makeover.
