My 87 300d is for sale.

I am sorry to admit but I am going to buy a bmw.

I am getting a 87 325i so the 87 300d has to go.

It is a shame as I will miss posting on this board about my adventures in automotive misachievments.

Here are the detials on the 87 300d

108K
Just had the transmission resealed because of a front seal leak
Brand new turbo and full exhaust from MB
New Nisssens radiator
New vacuum pump
New water pump
New thermostat with housing
New brakes front and rear
New glow plugs
Fixed the oil leak from the injection pump (PITA)
CD player
Replaced boost pressure sensor
Replaced the crossover valves
replaced the plastic pressure lines
replaced all the rubber vacuum lines
New fuel filters

This car runs great. I would trust it to run for another 200K.

I am selling it because I am scaling down in cars and I crave a car that may be a little more fun to drive. I dont drive as much as I used to as I commute to work it about 2 miles now.

I want all to know that if you are interested in this car I will not neglect to tell you any and all info about the car that I am aware of. I am a maintenance freak and anyone who buys my used cars are not inheriting any problems, usually just the opposite. I will be able to post pics in the middle of next week. I will be putting it in the paper this week also and possibly auto trader.

This car is a great car and I got it very far along to being superb.

Please feel free to email me at counihan@mc.net for more details or to arrange any meetings. I live in McHenry IL about 60 miles north of chicago.

Thanks for all of your help and support over the years. I hope that someone from the forum buys the car.

I am asking 5000 dollars.

thanks

bob

IT is a pearl grey with black tex mex interior. The interior is in real good shape. The car has some surface rust that I have repaired.

The only significant problem with the car is that the AC does not work. I do not know what is wrong with it. It does not have any pressure under the low side schrader valve.

I will have some pictures up no later than wednesday when I can borrow a friend of mines digital camera.

This car is solid and mechanically sound.

Thanks again for your interest.

Bob

The BENZO is Going into the Paper

Hello ALl,

I repaired the a/c unit and she blows nice and cold now. This car is in great shape and I almost regret selling it. IF the BMW was not such a cool little fun car I would not sell this car at all.

THat being said, THis is one hell of a 87 300d. I would really like a forum person to have it as It is a great car and now after the a/c is fixed I should not have much trouble selling it. IF you want a car that can go another 200k miles then this is the one. You wont even have to fix anything either. I just did all that. SHe shifts nice and smooth. Is very fast (for a diesel) and looks nice too.

I am a maintenance maniac, It is more like a hobby that I have that. This car is in great shape.

Thanks for all of you interest in the car.

feel free to email me at counihan@mc.net

thanks

The 87 300d with 110K is still available.

Hello all,

I just wanted everyone to know that the car is still avialable. I will be putting it on ebay soon or trading times. There is not much of a market out here in the north west of chicago for this car.

I will take 4000 for it. It is a great car

call me if you have any questions

815 759 1100

or email me.

Is this the car that is listed in your signature line with the description "We shall see"?

Yes it is.

It has been a bit of a project car. If you can see the amount of work I did to it you can appreciate the term we shall see. She is in real good shape now but I lost my affection for her. She has been too much work. Now a new owner will surely benifit from my labor and will surely have a better relationship with the car. As for me the thrill is gone. The new BMW awaites my affection. It is more of dear John story than I got to get rid of this lemon. The car has been delemonized.

I would like someone who craves a 87 300d to have it. It is a great car model. For a diesel she flies.

thank you

bob

Slightly off-topic. Sorry.

Is that color really Pearl Grey? I thought the paint on my TD was that color, but it's clearly two shades darker.

Anyone know what shades of grey MB offered in '87?

Any shots of the interior? I like the black tex.

Kinda suprised no one is jumping at this one. Looks nice and from a board member too so at least you know it was loved. if I had the cash, and the room, etc. RT

My 1987 color brochure says there were 3 grays available:

Pearl Gray
Ascot Gray
Anthracite Gray

If he posts the VIN, I can check the color code in the EPC and report the official color.
