Conversion progress.
Hello,
How is everyone? I am in the middle of converting my newly acquired 240d into a 5 cyl turbo with 722.315 auto tranny. I recently corresponded with several people and decided to completely and fully do the conversion properly by replacing everything to make it (driveline wise) identical to a 300d. This car I believe is worth putting money into, so the total acquisition cost, car, motor, tranny, etc will be about 1400 bucks. I think it's worth it, but like someone else has said, "a cheap fixer-upper Mercedes is the most expensive Mercedes you'll ever buy" . Might be true to some extent. But, I'ts fun, and what price can you put on that? Thanks, Adam Bush |

Doesn't sound like to much of a cash investment. Time investment will be another story. Still, the fun factor of doing the job, plus the knowledge gained and the opportunity to fix little things OUT of the car are all valuable. Keep us posted. Oh, and take a boatload of pictures as the job progresses. The images may be very usefull to one of us in the future.
