Nice

Beautiful car! Also, is that the Gandy Bridge behind you? Just an observation from a fellow West Coast MBer.

Congrads Viesel!

I got to test drive a CDI yeaterday. One word; AWESOME.

The salesperson was new and didn`t know diddly about the car but was quick to give me the keys. This thing does not sound like a diesel at all, nor does it drive like one. It is impossible to tell this is a diesel vehicle. I did miss the familiar diesel clatter though. The throddle response is unbelieveable. Upon our return one of the other salespeople saw the Biodiesel sticker on the back of our 300TD and inquired as to if he could smell the exhaust fumes and, of course, I obliged him.
While in the parking lot, a couple took the same CDI I drove out for a spin. The salesman and I stood in the dealer lot and chatted about biodiesel for about 45 minutes. In that time the couple returned from their test drive and then ended up taking the car home with them.

They are going to sell alot of these cars. I only wish I could afford a wagon when they hit our shores.

I agree...I think the new E has been a huge hit in all rights....now you have a diesel with all the positives and none of the negatives

Yep, thats the Gandy. I'll get some better pics tomorrow with a better back drop. I was just dying to drive it across the bridge and back. Glad no cops were around

You'd better be careful. 369 ft/lbs of torque is quite a rush. That's what stinks about the US. Speed limits are too low to have any fun. Hope you have a local track. And go EASY on 'er....She's just breaking in for the first 1K.

See how TORQUE is the ultimate source of power?
I'm looking forward to racing one of these monsters in any one of my cars.

Deeeezle

That is one very exciting car! Nice!!!
Hope the quality and reliability is good overall.

I wonder if Mercedes dealers are offering incentives?? Lately Mercedes dealers have not been selling alot ,at least around here, since the dot com bust.
That put the buyer back in the driver's seat.
However, with a hot model like the TDI, I don't suspect the dealer needs to be civil.

I like that car!

What is it with newer diesels haveing the engine covered in plastic? The TDI is the same way.

Pretty though otherwise...

The plastic is coming off, just like my TDI. Looks nice hanging in the garage as decoration.

Neither one of our TDIs has it`s engine cover, both will grace the walls of the new carriage house once the drywall is hung and painted. Why wouldn`t you wanna look at the thing in the raw without it`s panties? :p

Awsome looking car, I love the way the W211 looks. How fast is it compared to the E500? It's about time we started to see some of the CDI's on our shores. Hopefully if they sell well MB will start bringing others over.

Maybe becuase it keeps part of the engine, ex. the injector area clean from dirt and debris?

I don't think that's it, because plenty of dirt comes up from the bottom. My TDI certainly accumulates plenty of dirt on the engine. It's mostly for looks, but also helps with sound deadening.

And this plastic shrouding business is not limited to Diesels. Just about all engines have them these days.

That`s my job. And I have noticed that things are alot cleaner without the cover, at least on the roads I travel. Plus I like to keep an eye on the oil bypass filter supply and return lines without having to remove the cover.

The cover on my OM606 keeps things cleaner. There is a gasket on the cover that seals it with the top of the head. So my injector areas are nice and clean.
