The 123, 240D model of 1975-1985 had the highest production numbers of any model Benz, gas or diesel, produced between 1946 and 1990 at 454,780. I think worldwide production of all 123's was about 2.7 million.

(Note: I edited this post to change an incorrect "1979" to correctly read "1975")

I'm surprised there are so few 116 ('78 to '80 300SD) in the survey, but I will admit, I don't see very many of them on the road anymore.

I Have 3, can I vote 3 times?

Hi Sixto,

YES I AM a 116/126 diehard. So a 123 is just a mini 116/126.

Big numbers for the total of gas 116's built...but a total of only 28,634 300SD's built from 1977 to 1980(only 51 built in '77).

Sounds like the '77 300SD might be a collector's item. Anyone here have one?

That's probably what I had meant. I goofed!
Is there any way to correct it? I tried but it won't let me edit that part of the thread. I used another forum's listings to compile a list of body style designations.

Engatwork, can you fix it since you're the moderator?

What about my '78 W123 240D? Wasn't the 123 model of the 240D produced from 77-83?

Were can you find the production numbers? Do they have them broken down by the year as well?

The only thing I could set up with the poll was to be able to vote for more than one model at a time.
