hydraulic suspension in a 240d
I am doing some minor things to a 81 240d for a lady here in town. When I popped the hood I noticed a hydraulic tank on the rt side that had been dis-connected. I was looking through some of the bills in the car and found one for a total rebuild of the rear listing new springs, shocks, etc. Was the hydraulic suspension like the wagons have an option for the 240d?

After looking at my Haynes manual, I think it was an option on all 123's in Europe (apparently that includes the wagons; in Europe, it looks like the wagons were available with a "normal" suspension as well as the hydraulic setup).
Is it a gray-market car? I think that it wasn't available in 123 sedans in the U.S. but I could be wrong... |

She said it was a grey market car but I wondered. It has a tex interior, A/C, automatic transmission, and a sunroof. I thought the Europian models were bare bones models. This one must have been ordered with all the options.

Never seen a sedan with it. Does the interior have wood trim? Look on the driver door for a sticker by the company who imported it and did the modifications.

My euro 190D has hydraulic suspension on the rear end. It was part of a package that included a trailer hitch--not common but not unusual on the Euro MBs, including the 123s.
