Thanks for the info - had auto glass place check - water test. Windshield is not leaking - instead pulled off fender - found some small holes - patched those- still small leak - it is coming from just forward of the hinge spring area - I can patch - for no leaks!

Double check your drains. On my wagon (same as yours) the holes right below the hinge spring allow water to drain into an area below the fuse holder by the firewall, also next to the battery on the other side. Those in turn each have a hole that allows the water to exit through the wheel well onto the top/rear of the front wheels. On my car these second level holes tend to get clogged with dirt and become almost invisible. Gentle probing with a stiff wire usually is enough to find them and clear them out. Even if these are not your problem now they will be later if you let them get clogged.

My rust is right at the second (lower) level just to side of the "funnel" shaped drain - rust leads to weeping area inside just forward of hood release cable! Thanks again.
