Engine oil change silly question.
I was reading the manual and it states that there are 2 versions of 615.912. 1.º up to chassis end n.º 120829 and 2.º starting in 120830. What nº is this? Chassis or engine n.º ?
Sorry for the silly question but I’m not an English or mechanics expert. Thanks in advance. |

VCR,
You quoted that is said "chassis number" so that is what I think it would be. Usually parts books specify the chassis number to order the correct parts. P E H |

Thanks; I was just wondering if it would be possible to refer to the engine block as chassis also.

VCR,
When I go to my MB dealer for parts, thay always ask for the chassis number not the number of the engine block. This is the number stamped on the center of the firewell, just above the engine and also on the little tag on the windshield. Its also the number on the car registration papers. P E H |

For a long time it was illegal in Portugal to change the engine whit out a special permission so we have both nº in the documents. I think I have sorted it out, when I get feed back from Mercedes Ill know also if this is the original engine and Ill be sure.
