Aww, take your time. What's the rush?

You are the 240mbman, are you not? I say, screw those jerk-offs who can't handle it. Let them go around you. Either that or get a faster car.

The OM 616 was made in two normaly aspirated versions, one with the default 65bhp and other for the G-Wagen and MB commercial Tempo vehicles with 72bhp. The 72bhp version is quite peppy if mated to the G-18 5 speed tranny. The final tribute was paid to the OM 616 when it was turbo charged using OM 617 parts and it dveloped 91bhp. I have this particular engine in my Gurkha and can tell you that it cruises effortlessly.

I have more fun driving a 240D than a 400E. It is more fun to make a slow car go fast (ok, make it keep up), than force a fast car to go slow.

Also, slow cars make me a good driver- less room for error.

I just wave everyone around me. I like being on the road. My destination is not as enjoyable as driving an old MB.

Everything needs to be right and then they’re acceptable. But anything that’s off, even just a little seems worse cause you don’t have much to work with in the first place. So, assuming the compressions good, the valves are right, then a diesel purge or a good shot of fuel additive is about it around town. For the road tire pressure makes a difference. Some of the additives don’t seem to make any difference – The “Red Line” stuff works best for me. Keep a clean air filter, but it’s really got to be nasty before that’s going to do much

240mbman,

If you wanted to go faster, why did you get a 240D? Why not a 300SD with turbo?

67 hp out of that car? If it's a diesel, then it's more like 50.

So, if you put a lot of German and European brand performance stickers all over your car to make it go faster and that's not "ricing" it up then what is it? KRAUTING? oder "Schwarzbroting?"

Wanderer,

Possibly I should have phrased it " a 300SD that has a turbo".
