Euro lights hit the streets hard in H-town

maybe its just me, but in the last few weeks, it seems like 1 out of about every 5 w126's i see lately has euro lights, when before i didnt notice any at all. havent seen any w124's with them though. is this happening in other places around the country?
how often do you guys notice them?

I don’t think I’ve seen any here. Then again I don’t see many w126s in any event. When I do catch a glimpse of one I can’t see the front. Of the ones I’ve seen they still have the standard newer lights.

Euro headlamp upgrades are all the rage for the 85 cars and earlier. The DOT lamps for those cars are extremely bad – worse than the w124’s lamps. In fact, I restored my w126 with Euros not long ago.

It seems like I've been noticing it too. I thought about Euros for my Benz, but they're so expensive new, so until I can go to the junkyard and find some Euros on a wrecked W126, I'm still using the sealed beams. But maybe, I can get some of those Sylvania sealed beams that are supposed to light up the road just about as well as the Euros do. I'll still have the DOT look, but brighter lighting. So for now, I just drive with the fogs on too for better lighting.

If you want to split the difference in price between the flat glass euro headlights and upgraded DOT legal sealed beams, check out the Hella 4x6 lamps that drop in to the US headlight sockets. They come with 55/60 bulbs and only cost roughly $50 each. You'll get MUCH better light than DOT lamps.

PLEASE do not drive with your fog lights on all the time!!! They are *FOG* lights. They are not aimed or have the correct lense to assist your regular night time driving. All they do is severly annoy/blind/etc oncoming drivers. If you want driving lights, get driving lights (and aim them properly) or get euro's and be done with it!

My improved ability to see is only 1/3 of the benefit of my euros. The other is looks, and the last is that I feel like a good person as I never blind oncoming traffic, and more than likely have dimmer *appearing* headlights than 90% of people on the road. Even though I can see better than all of them

My $.02

I think you are seeing more because they are becoming LESS expensive. I did my conversion for about $300.
