5spd manual for 123 on ebay
|
So what's something like this worth?
|
Would this bolt right up to a 240???
|
I paid a little over $2000, with a 240D attached.

Seriously, it will bolt up to a 240 engine with a manual 4-spd tranny but will take some wrangling of the shifter linkages, rear crossmember and driveshaft stub. The shifter would be nice to have but might be able to be adapted from a regular 4-spd shifter...reverse will be weird and may not have a lock out. From the looks of the shift arms on that tranny, I'm guessing that it's not a 'Dog Leg' either...too bad. |

I think 5th is an OD gear.
If only I had the $$... *drooling* |
Yes, it is an overdrive.... the early ones were just a bolt on at the back end of the four speed... the later ones were cast in one case.

This gearbox is just the one piece 4-speed with a rev-5th tailpiece.

Can this fit in a W123 with an automatic tranny?

About this five sp manual on e bay
Anyone find out if this will mate with the U S spec w123 that normally has an auto trans I have done some research on this on this board and the answer I came up with was NO? I am not sure on this I believe the word was a manual mercedes trans could not handle the torque of the 5 cyl turbo. Am I wrong Beggin to be told I am wrong in this assumption Peace |

Isn’t the four speed a Borg-Warner? Same as International used to put in small trucks?
