Low dollar cars

Maybe I've always been a little "lucky" when it comes to low dollar cars, but the other thing that helps is to "network" with other people at work, in the neighborhood, or at repair shops, etc. who might share a common interest. Get to know the maintenance guys, truck drivers, trash pickers, flea market junkies, and other interesting sorts. If you talk to enough locals, you will find someone who knows someone who has a low buck MB.

Just last week I saw a 300CD with no engine or trans sitting behind a tool rental/concrete distributor. I have always liked the 2 door diesels. This car could be had for extremely low bucks, but I don't have any more space at the house, and already have a second 300SD parts car. The 300CD is at a place called "We Rent It" in south StLouis.

Oops

Oooops, that post was supposed to be a reply to the post about buying another 300SD lower on the page. I hit the "new topic" button instead of the "reply" button.

My best friend and I have our own little network. We buy parts cars and share the parts. If I need something he gives it to me and if he needs something he takes it. We both have room to store spare parts. We never sell each other parts, we just share them. We also started buying some specialized tools together to cut down on expense. This partnership has helped keep our costs of ownership really low. It also gives us an excuse to get together to fix something and drink a cold one afterwards.
