Not an SD but a 1986 sdl. I got it about six weeks ago. My first diesel. I drive it almost every day. So far about 3000 miles. What a great car. Still working on my parallel parking technique!

I drive my '87 SDL every day for my 3 mile round trip commute. I often have meetings outside the office where I put the miles on.

Funny, my 16 year old got his license a few months ago and about a week ago he and I went shopping and I whipped the monster into a tight parallel space the first try. Perfect. He gets out, looks at the parking job and just starts shaking his head. Lot to be said for experience.

rdetoy,

What kind a crappy fuel do you get that you have to change the fuel filter every month? Or are you running WVO?

I've had my secondary fuel filter in for 60,000+ miles and the secondary filter would probably be in as long if it hadn't started leaking from a hole that appeared in the side of the can.

Filters don't wear out, they just get full of dirt or sludge. When they do, you will notice a loss of power going up a hill. That's when it time to change the filters, not every month.

If you filters are plugging up every month, you might have an algae problem which should be cured with a biocide added to the fuel in the tank.

Drive my 81SD everyday. 121 miles round trip. Hope the change to syn oil will relieve some of the oil changes. At least post pone them for a month or two.

Yes. 70+ miles per day plus usually another 100 or so for weekends and daytime trips out of the office. 303000 miles. I bought this in Feb. and have the AC working good. Will see how it does down here this summer. One day last week, I was caught in stop-n-crawl traffic several miles and the heat guage was almost up to 120 before I cut the AC--and it was only about 85 outside at the time. Can't wait for the 100s in Aug.

Meantime my 02 Durango RT hogs the garage and pisses me off every time I see it.

Cool

I drive my SDL 7 days a week. In four months, I've put on 9,000 miles... still running well. It's time to fix the fan clutch though, it doesn't pull air and it likes to get a little hot now that the weather is warming up.

Not an SD but I will drive my SDL 7 days a week 365 a year, probably about 12k a year. I'm taking it down to the FL keys over winter break next year.

Yep!

60+ miles a day for commuting and then around town on the weekends. About 5,500 miles since I got it in February.

Only downside is my F250 Diesel feels seems to be lonely sitting over in the driveway holding up dust.

Gotta love Mississippi's antique tag... one time just like yours, but no restrictions of any kind. Only $25.

And yes, my SD is my daily driver (15 miles each way). Going to be driving it about 1000 miles this weekend. In the middle of the month will prolly be doing another 3,000 miles. It has 248,000 miles on it and is still going strong!

168 miles each day, been doing this for 2 months now, one oil chane (synth only) in that time, started at between 25 -28 mpg, now a steady 30 mpg, I get (before the reserve light comes on , that means 17.5 gal ) 500 miles

This is a 1980 116 body 300SD by the way

Do I drive my SD every day? Yes and no. I'll splain:

I have 2 registered. One is a '79 that I bought as a parts car 6 years ago and its still running. Its my "beater" It gets used almost every day and goes to FL and NOLA every year in the winter.

The other is an '80 I Bought in 1990 and is treated with respect and is used mostly as a trip car and never goes out of the garage in the winter. It goes to the west coast every year and even went to Alaska once.
