broken "cyclone separator" spout
I was changing the mounts for my air filter housing on my '84 300SD and I noticed that the little spout on the bottom of the cyclone separator that fits into the oil return line was broken off. I don't know what kind of metal it is or if it can be welded back on the separator. If it can't be welded back on, can I replace only the separator or do I have to replace the whole housing? And if I can replace just the separator, where can I get one?

I would think you could get a short piece of steel tubing welded on there, but then it would not have a ring to put the o-ring on. Would get a bit oily without that.
Did you check the tube below for the broken off piece? If you need an air cannister, expect to pay a lot for a used one. Not available new. big demand item with the crash shops buying them up for collision repairs. Try this to hunt for a used. http://www.car-part.com/ |
