Fixed the 1/4 window!
Fixed my left 1/4 window of my 300CD today, took me a couple of days to find out what the problem was.
The problem was not the arms but the copper colored plate that holds the two guides that slides over the guide-arm. Over time the point where the copper plate is attached to the "pivot arm" bents, it should be in a straight 90' angle, aligned with the pivot arm. What happens when it's not straight; the arm that pushes the window will shift, it will push it a third, then shift and pulls it. This makes it going only halfway. It's supposed to push it all the way down. I think this is a common problem, the regulator I purchased at the junk yard was bent also.... Those CD's look real sharp with all the windows down, finally I fixed it! |
Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that problem too. I know exactly which part it is. I had to bend mine back to 90* with the regulators installed. With some creativity... i managed to.
and yes yes they look really sharp w/ the windows down. Plus the rear seat passengers like it. I hate being stuck in the back of a coupe when the windows don't open (or open like a Suzuki Jimny's rear windows as in the E46 3-series... come on now...) - at least when everyone else up front is enjoying window down motoring. Anyway.. congratulations! http://users.rcn.com/holsonyap/w123-e46.jpg :D the 333hp M3 can't roll all its windows down... *taking cheap shots...* - just joking, I guess a 'race car' like the M3 can't compromise chassis rigidity for stupid rear quarter windows... i just miss my coupe.... |

Yes, that bumper looks fubar. I suggest you check the price on a replacement ASAP- and be sitting down when you do so. |
