Camshaft Cover Stain Remover

I applied Twinkle copper polish with a wet cloth and it came out aluminium-lustre. Nice. It works but tedious to do and hard on your hands and fingers. Is there any product out there that you know of that will do the job just as well?

That's an odd looking diesel engine.

Always wondered if a grinding wheel or a buffer of some sort would do.
Benzcrusher, those are strange looking fuel insection lines in the photo there. Did you install spark plugs on your diesel?

I installed the spark plugs right before I added a wet nitrous system... This was a '67 230 fintail I messed with last year.

Just don't spray it down with degreaser then attack it with water while the valve cover's off the engine. A friend of mine did that and I spent the next hour trying to get all the water droplets dried off the inside of the valve cover... I know that water should evaporate in an engine, but I figure there's no point in taking a chance, eh?

You need to wipe a very thin layer of oil over the cover after doing that or it's going to oxidize and start having a white flakey look to it. Guess it doesn't have to be oil, just anything that will offer a little protection from the air and water.
