transmission help
I have 300d which seems not to be shifting into 4th. it goes 1st to third great. but it feels like it needs anothergear. i will go ing 60
and the tach reads 2500 go to 70 it reads 3000. i will not go higher for fear of over reving my engine. is this normal thanks |

65 mph is about 3100 RPM in the cars with automatic transmissions. 75 mph is about 3450 RPM.
Not to worry, they're made to spin like that.

On ur camshaft cover, there is cable that comes from the transmission (next to the black box) that is connected to a linkage component. (That is the metal that needs to be hinged)
There is a notch on the metal ( part of the linkage system), that is just below that bowden cable linkage component, that has the hinge. It is a little metal juts about 1 mm straight up. If not hinged correctly, could be one of the reasons why u r not getting the 4th gear. Check that out and hope it solves ur problem. |

Agree with R Leo here. Don't start playing with adjustments. Did you ever think that your car is taking off in 2nd gear?? I think some did and this was normal operation.

My 300D starts out in 1st unless I don't come to a complete stop.
