HP in '89 300D
How much horsepower did the '89 300D Turbo have?
I met some kid with one tonight and he admired my '93 and when he took off from a stop sign he was pretty quick, i couldn't keep up and mine is in MUCH better condition than his. How could MB have gotten slower over 4 years?

Since when does hp have to do with pickup?
Torque will win a race 0-60. I've never heard of an '89 300D, save maybe for Europe. A non-turbo six cylinder should have about 107 bhp. A turbo version should have about 148 bhp. Torque for the turbo is 201 lb/ft at 2400 whereas your 300D 2.5 has 165 lb/ft. Most likely, it was an '87 model if you live in the US. For arguing the torque vs hp wars, you need only look to the E320 CDI. 0-60 in 6.5 secs with only 201 hp and 3835 lbs to haul.

HP of '89 300D Turbo, ZERO. They didn't make one, not even for the world market.
As DslBnz indicated, you can't compare HP rating of Diesel to HP rating of a gas engine. You would be comparing oranges to apples. Also as he said, it's torbue that you feel. Have a great day, |
