Need help with 83 300 td vacuum line routing
Two things. I need a picture and or diagram of the vacuum layout for the 83-300td. swapped motors beliveImessed up routing.
Also what is the percentage of oil that flows thru oil cooler noticed the lines to cooler are cool while the filter tank is hot. Thanks |
For your question on the vacuum diagram, I would suggest that you use the search function button on this page. Type in 'vacuum diagram' and you will get about three pages of threads. Believe that one of those has several pictures of the routing diagrams. On the one about the oil cooler, it only opens up after the oil reaches a certain temp. So, until the oil gets to the right temp, there is essentially no flow thru the cooler. Can't say what % goes thru after the valve opens but it is probably progressive!?!

Did you find a suitable diagram? |
Have found some diagrams but they aren’t clear when printing. I drove this motor and trans in another vehicle it ran and sounded great. Now it shakes a little and lacking power also running a little warm. Wondering if this is more of a fuel problem because when warm I hear a slight nock, which I believe, is fuel related. Even when running warm the oil cooler lines are sill cold could there be a thermostat for that? Also is there a high oil temp switch on these vehicle because it wont crank until it cools down a little. Temp gauge is between 80 and 90 use to run a solid 80.
Thanks for any help |
As far as I know there is not a high oil temp switch on these vehicles which would stop it from cranking until it cools down. However the starter solenoid is often very affected by hi temps as it is close to the exhaust and can cause your symptoms.
The problem with running a little warm, can be related to the radiator and other cooling system components. Did you bring those items along with the engine and tranny? With the temp gauge between 80 and 90, though, you are in about the same area many on this board report as normal.. |
Both engines ran the same temps in their orig chassis. I did use straight anti freeze when replaced prabally should mix down to 50/50. Motor still shakes a little and when warm can hear a slight nock i think is fuel related. I would like to find a clear piture of vacuum layout to rule that part out .I think its a little warm because of a lean fuel condition chaged fuel filters next will check tank strainer.
