metallic clicking nose when taking foot away from accel. pedal
Occasionally, when I take my foot away quickly from accelerator pedal, I hear metallic clicking noise.
Is this normal? I once drove a 12 year old 190E whose clicking noise is much louder than mine. However, I also drove an automatic transmission car that does not produce such noise at all. |
A single click ... or a series ?
Where does it sound like it is coming from ? Can you feel it when it happens ? |
A single click.
The sound seems to come from tranny. I do not "feel" it (shake of the car, instant acceleration or decelerataion etc.). When I accelerate, I "feel" upshifting of my tranny. But I do not hear clicking noise at the upshift. When I take my foot away slowly from accelerator pedal, I never hear such clicking nose. |
hmmm.. I noticed a clicking noise from my 300DT lastnight, but it sounded only slightly louder than normal- the noise im hearing is the noise you hear when you are coasting and reducing in speed and the motor slowly winds down to idle level. Lastnight it seemed louder, enough so for me to wonder if somthings wrong?

I had flex disk replaced at a dealer tech's suggestion. Now the clunking noise disappeared.
