My friend who used to drive an 84 380sl told me that he saw the 300TD (84 or 85) on the cover of a famous car magazine(road and track/ car and driver maybe?) headlines as "the world's best car" (at that time of course) does anybody know or remember this cover shot? How can I get a hold of this back copy? Thanks.

Geez, what's changed? A 300TD (w123) is still the world's best car... excepting maybe a 300D w115 chassis. Too bad the 115 didn't ever come in a wagon...

I had a subscription to Car & Driver back in the 80's but I don't recall seeing a 300TD ever being on the cover.
