To what extent can a Bad AutoTrans feel like Engine trouble.85 300D

I know my 300D has the power, it has new injectors, and once in awhile it flashes its power and moves out like a Mustang, especially at Higher Speeds.

But at start from stop, its behaviour is curious and inconsistent,
Sometimes it can bolt forward, and other times, it lurches, jumps or goes real slow.

What really makes me wonder is that my 83 240D engine was not as powerful and had old injectors, but with the manual, you really felt like you were controlling the engine...

I smy transmission the real problem? Is it time..(G__ Forbid to rebuild it or can I just Flush it 2x or 3x times...) I am really starting to think th eengine is Fine and its the Trans, I already tried evrything from retiming the pump, cleaning the banjo fitting, turning up the anerometer--I think actually the engine is okay?

Its just taht it moves out like a Turtle at the wierdest times...

mine kinda does that. did check the throttle linkages. i adjusted one of mine and it not only increased the power but the tranny seemed to shift better. cant explain why. it just does.

Torque converter?

Torque converter is the one between the engine and gears. I think you can check the stall RPM. Put it in drive and brakes (hand and foot) and rev your engine and record the max RPM. Keep it short, or you might burn it.

Any master mechanics chime in "how to test torque converter"?

Install a vacuum gauge in your car; tap the vacuum feed line from the pump.
Make note of the vacuum reading each time the transmission is strange.
#1. You could have a vacuum pump failing.
#2. You could have a transmission vacuum modulator failing.
#3. You could have vacuum unions or lines cracking and flexing open = bleeding away vacuum.
#4. You could have a defective down shift switch.
Sorry I can't help more.
You need local hands on help.
