Free 617 Turbo Engine - You pick it up.

FREE - dis-assembled 617.950 engine from one of my '80 300 SD's. Head is good, crank is good, block needs to be re-sleeved. Block and head have been hot tanked, almost all other parts have been cleaned and freshly painted. Pistons need to be replaced, but rods are good. Everything must go, I'm moving on the 3rd of June, and want to get rid of this extra engine. Turbo, manifolds, IP, alternator, starter, oil pan, etc. are included.

I don't want to part it out, and I don't want to ship. You come get it in Festus, MO (about 30 mi. south of St Louis), and it's all yours.

Still free.

Did I mention that the engine is FREE, and that most of the parts have been cleaned, bead-blasted, and freshly painted? Or that the parts are stored in nice new Rubbermaid storage tubs?

Come and get it.

I'd be there by now if I had a place to store it in my apartment. I know it will get a good home.

I want this engine for a transplant operation into a Land Cruiser project, but I got a hard VETO from home when I suggested it. Sorry.

I'd be there tomorrow if it weren't for the $200+ it would cost to drive there and back. I love free parts, but of course the ones I want never turn up next door. Let's see, looking up the distance from Kansas City to Billings, I come up with 848 miles. On a round trip, with current gas prices, I figure that would cost $275 in gas driving out van, which is about the only thing you could do it with (the truck could too, but the milage is worse still, and it would not make for a fun trip). Hopefully somebody closer by will see this; I just can't afford the gas.

steve, do you think i could fit all this stuff in my 300sd? im thinking about biting the bullet and taking a road trip...i could probably fit 2 or 3 rubbermaid boxes up in the cabin and maybe 2 in the trunk...let me know how much room you think it will take up, i wont really have anything with me other than a friend to ride with me and the clothes on our backs, so if itll fit in my ride ill try and come get it

Where the h**l is Festus???

Might take a road trip and store the thing at grimgaunt's house, or just give it to him, hate to see that much work go down the tubes.

Parts are gone.

Thanks to everyone for their interest. JDBlann came in his 300SD (burning veggie oil) and loaded up all the parts. I wasn't sure that everything was going to fit, but it did.

Talking to David about his WVO powered machine has got me very seriously thinking about doing the exact same thing.

Thanks again to everyone.

SteveM.
