As the price of gasoline goes up, and the spread between diesel and gasoline gets bigger, our nerdy noisy diesels are becoming cool and I sence an increase in their value....
A segment on the Today show this morning had an coorespondant say that it is time to park the SUV and that waiting lists are staring to form for hybrid vechicals....
I propose a minimum $5,000 asking price for any w123 diesel:D

Gee, and me stuck with four of the damned 'ol smelly things.

Over here diesel is currently more expensive than regular. $2.30 for regular and $2.40 for diesel. Since diesel is cheaper to produce than gasoline, I say WTF.

Blame that on the West coast enviro-nazis...........there is no good reason for it. You get all yours from California Refineries don't you.

Well here in SC diesel is $1.53 and reg gas is $1.78.....

Where I am its $1.75 diesel and $2.28 for premiun

Good diagnosis by the "doctor". Got some D for $1.69 today in West TN... Reg. gasoline is about $2.00 and climbing.

Paid a $1.46 for diesel today, too bad it was going into the little M-F yard tractor. :rolleyes: I'll be glad when I'm up and running with WVO for the Benz. :)

Regular unlead gas was $1.899 and preminum was $2.019. :eek:

I discovered something Suburban drivers might have known for a while - the pumps at the station I frequent stop automatically at $50. You have to start another transaction to to get more than $50. I discovered this filling the S420 with just under a quarter tank (26 gal tank). Regular is $2.239, Diesel is $2.439, premium is $2.459. I shouldn't say 'is,' that was 4 hours ago :rolleyes:

Yeah, my Suburban is no fun to fill. Put $72 in it the other day. 42 gallon tank. Paid $1.54.9 last night for diesel at Flying J. premium was $2.08.9. Wife (560SL) and daughter (300E) and ot real happy. Daughter is threatening to go back to driving '83 300D that she wrecked last year. Wife HATES diesels and uses credit card for gas anyway so she doesn't really feel the pain. Plus, somehow, I always seem to be in the drivers seat of her car when it needs gas. Wife is obviously smarter than me-but we knew that. Another thing on gas pumps. When you use credit card at pump, many automatically put a "hold" on $50 worth of credit (thus the $50 limit). Trouble is, it takes awhile for it to come off and reflect the actual purchase price.

Diesel has gone up to $1.85 and Premium is at $2.28 at the same station, there are more expensive stations in the area.

Why is it people are so ready to blame the so called "enviro-nazis" and not the political instability we've helped cause in the oil producing regions or wartime profiteering of the oil companies for the prices? This has all been argued out adnauseum in the Ouch, diesel prices thread, but I'm still amazed that people actually believe that crap.

Because its the enviro-nazis that are keeping us from drilling the our own country. And they make all the different weird concoctions instead of a common blend that makes prices artificially high.

I think we are already drilling enough in our country. I read that about 70% of our crude oil comes from domestic sources. We are also by far the greatest consumer of oil in the world. IMO two things need to happen: people need to junk their gas-guzzling SUV's unless they really need them, and the government needs to get more serious about biodiesel. Then we wouldn't have to import oil at all.
