Considering A Diesel Mercedes
Due to the rising gas prices, I'm thinking of getting a Diesel Mercedes. Preferably something from around the mid-1990's. The only Diesel that I can remember from this time period is the E300. Does anyone know of any other Diesel models that were available? I looked at a 1994 E300. Are these decent cars in terms of reliability and maintenance? Thanks for your help.

There is no US-spec 94 E300. There's a 95 E300 (W124) and the same engine in the 96-97 E300 (W210) which got a turbo for 98-99. If you're outside the US, lucky you.
The 96-97 Passat TDI sedan and wagon are nice cars if you like to shift. Sixto 95 S420 87 300SDL |

Why do you need something from the mid-90's?

I like to keep up with car prices ,classifides, Ebay, autotrader.com. etc. MB diesels seem to be making a steady increase in price in the last month or so.........

For economy plus modern amenities, you might also consider the early '90s 300D 2.5Turbo.
