Trap oxidizer vs trap catalyst 85 300D

Been doing some searches on it, but there's a lot of conflicting descriptions, so, which is it? Looking at picking up a cheap '85 300D that has the CA emmision set-up, and I know trap oxidizer is bad, and trap catalyst won't do the horsepower any favors, but at least isn't sending destructive particles into the turbo. So, how to tell them apart? Thanks in advance...

As far as I know they look exactly alike. The best thing to do is take down the car's VIN and call the MB dealer. Chances are the trap ox was removed. This is the catalyst that I removed from my car.
