Brake booster question?
Shouldn't the brake booster hold vacuum? I'm unable to get a reading with my mityvac. I have a vacuum leak whereby the engine is slow to shut down. Brakes seem harder to stop also, however I was wondering if that was just from the leak.

Exactly how did you test your brake booster with the mityvac?

:) Make sure the valve on the brake booster is not broken, if it is, you will need to replace the entire brake booster valve/line. (They don't sell the valve alone) It is very easy to change and the part is around $20. Here is a picture of mines that was broken and leaking vacuum and also shows the new part. (See Step #4)

adiel Are you talking about the check valve on the vacuum line into the booster? If so I have bought the check valve, not cheap, $20.00 or so. |
I connected my mityvac directly to the vacuum pump line that connects to the main near the cruise control and only got 6" on the mityvac. I guess thats it for my vacuum pump. The brake booster is problably fine. Thanks for your post
