Brake booster question?

Shouldn't the brake booster hold vacuum? I'm unable to get a reading with my mityvac. I have a vacuum leak whereby the engine is slow to shut down. Brakes seem harder to stop also, however I was wondering if that was just from the leak.

Exactly how did you test your brake booster with the mityvac?

Make sure the valve on the brake booster is not broken, if it is, you will need to replace the entire brake booster valve/line. (They don't sell the valve alone) It is very easy to change and the part is around $20. Here is a picture of mines that was broken and leaking vacuum and also shows the new part. (See Step #4)

Are you talking about the check valve on the vacuum line into the booster? If so I have bought the check valve, not cheap, $20.00 or so.

I connected my mityvac directly to the vacuum pump line that connects to the main near the cruise control and only got 6" on the mityvac. I guess thats it for my vacuum pump. The brake booster is problably fine. Thanks for your post
