What are symptoms of a worn flex disc?
Lately my car has started to show a slight symptom of what i think may be a wron flex disc. It isnt very bad at all, but id like to troubleshoot before it gets bad.
When accelerating, at higher speeds, I can feel a shudder through the accelerator, and body of the car. It gets stronger when accelerating, and then dissipates, and returns in a weaker form when decellerating slightly at highway speeds. What could it be? The car has a new front end, new rear shocks, and all wheels have been balanced and rotated.. no steering wheel vibration, and car doesnt drift an inch. Rides as smooth as possible otherwise. |
The best way to diagnose flex discs is to crawl under there and look at them.

I believe Larry Bible said to Push, Pry, and Pull on them. Anything obvious should be disasembled and the discs inspected carefully. This is not a part you would want to fail while driving.

For sure inspect the flex disks but, this sounds to me like a bad center support (the rubber part) or, a worn universal joint. Do a search in here on these terms: "universal joint" and or "center support."
Plenty of experience in here on this. |
Thanks for the help/reccomendation guys!
