Would somebody please.............

.......... give my old beast a new home? I have listed it on Ebay, and would still prefer to see it go to a forum member.

Have fun.....

Cool car! I wish I had time for a project as I could give it a great home. I'm just surprised that the engine needs a rebuild with only 100K miles but then those early cars only had odometers that went up to 99,999.9 miles. It probably has way more than that.

There was a black one down the road from me last year. I asked but they refused to sell.

Yeah, I don't know the acutal miles on the car. I do think it's safe to say that that odometer has gone around more than once. It had only just went bad shortly after I had bought it. The road I live on was a dirt road back then, and I think that the oil bath air filter has to be missing some part of it. There is no way on earth that two little screens can possibly filter out any real dirt.

I noticed your 1959 diesel is listed in your signature as a 190Db, but as a 190D on eBay, which is really correct? In looking at the pics on e-Bay, there are a few differences between your '59 190D(b) and the '61 190Db in my possession.

The horn ring appears to have a contoured inside surface, mine is just concentric with the outside surface. Is there a chrome ring at the outer ends of the steering wheel cross bars? Mine does not have this, but the pics seem to show that feature on yours. Does the horn ring do something by being rotated around the axis of the column? Looks like it might. Also the radiator grille shell is the tall slender type that I've been told is a mark of the earlier 190D without the b. Also the tail lites don't have the lower reflector section, but appear to have separate reflectors between the main lite and trunk. What is the approximate build date in 59 for this car, and when in 58 or 59 did the Db's manufacture start?

Finally, I'm not disputing what 'type' of car this is, but just very curious about various ponton differences. Have run into two very different wheels and hubcap retention methods in the last couple of years on what are both supposed to be 1961 cars. Oh, also mine is maroon on the outside with grey leather on the inside, kind of the reverse of your '59.

I'm not sure of the differences. When I put the car in my sig, I had thought that it was the "B" version, based on what I found on the 'net. When I listed the car the first time, I did list it as a Db model. I was then emailed by two Ponton people that the car was not a "b" model. So, when I relisted the car, I dropped the "b" designator.

I don't know the exact build dates of the different versions, and I'm not at home right now to look under the hood.

i remember when you brought it home.. and you were excited at the prospect of the restoration.
sorry things have changed for you but you know - life happens and there's nothing we can do about it. perhaps it's for the best, but, it does look like an enticing project for the right person...
it would be a shame to see that car die

Oh, I won't let the car just die. If there are no takers with this auction, I will keep it. I'll put some POR 15 on the roll pan, and other places were some surface rust has begun to threaten me, and put the car in covered storage. It will just be quite a while before I'll have the money to have the car done. I just simply don't have the free time to do this job myself, and a professional job on this car will exceed $10k - a sum that I cannot afford untill I have completed my debt payoff schedule.

At the same time, it cannot continue to sit in the carport. I simply need the room for parking the Goldwing, and servicing my other vehicles. The carport is not providing adequate protection from the weather either, and is beginning to take it's toll on the car just sitting - albeit not nearly as quickly as it would be if it sat in the field.
