As for the rust. My 420 has been in New England its whole life; always garaged. No rust to speak of, as of yet. So not all 210's have rust. One thing's for sure. After riding in my W126 boats all day, the W210 feels like a nice sporty reprieve. Guys, the W210 is a VERY nice car that LOOKS like a Benz and is much sharper and more distinctive than the W124(IMHO) in any light(it ain't no box on wheels). :p

I have not seen a garage kept car of any make develop much or any rust.
As for example of high milage cars, I descibed two of them that achieved over 300K, an 85 Volvo 760 turbo wagon, a 90 240 GL wagon, an 88 Buick LeSabre with around 225K before I sold and believe is still running. The Volvo's were bought new by me, my father the Buick. All received oil changes at 3K . None ever experienced major problems, all got the usual stuff like starters, alternator regulators, exhaust, but not the Buick, it had a stainless steel system and it never failed! I'm sorry if I ruffled your feathers about newer MB's not having much luck, but read the mail, there seems to be quite al lot of it and is where I picked it up from, and that has me concirned because I had hoped to buy a later model MB but I am in doubt now after reading and seeing as many negatives as I have. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and I'm sorry, but I don't much like some, not all, as I satated, of the later designs. I just think some of them are ugly! and that is my sole opinion! I do like my 124, probably as much as you like your W210. |

Not an expert here at all, but all the MBs I've seen with rust are a result of botched up body work from accident repairs. Just my observation.
My 97 has over 102,000 on the clock, with about 50,000 in wintery, salty Wisconsin. Knock on wood here, no rust.

I somethimes forget that auto salesmen don't just sell iron, but dreams and aspirations. Why else would you pay $400 for a diesel truck that has the capability to haul 3 tonnes and a bed with a plastic liner that will never be filled with anyting of use.
I like the new Ford that has a sound program that makes it sound like a 8 cylinder 429 Mustang from the dim past. Dreams and aspirations for sure.
