Injector specs & part#'s. 617 952

Im looking for spec.'s on the injectors used in the commercial truck/vans with the 617 turbo installed. Yep, my understanding is they are different than the ones in the 300series sedan/wagons.

by High Compression This part # I've come across as to one being for the truck rigs. Ive since found out that the DNOSD 261 is used in the 617 engines fitted to the last of the four wheel drive merc trucks, just before they fitted the later aluminium head engines. The design of the needle affects the torque curve the engine produces, as also, does the opening pressures. Even though the pressures are set at 115 Bar, ..
Any other info? Anyone got an idea on where to look?

FYI: MB does not sell heavy trucks in the US. Least not till recent when they got in cohoots with Freightliner. There are MB truck websites but most are in laungauges I dont speak.

Here is a link to some background info.

With regards to the question of pressures I have noticed little difference with setting my pop-off pressures high and low. Some nailing at low temps with low pressures is about the most noticeable difference.

The biggest surprise was that when I talked to the technicians at the diesel shops they had never heard of the holes in the pintles. They are not interested in such details, they just replace nozzles if they don't like what they see. Customers really need to get over the awe with which they seem to regard the diesel injection shops.

The other surprise was that cleaning the holes in the pintles lowers the pop pressure. I guess it is some kind of hydrodynamic thing that would take some specialization to understand.

No kidding! Some of the 'injection tecnicians' I've visited with struck me a little more than the usual hammer mechanics with slightly different training.
