So, Randy, along with all of the other problems did you get your passport stamped or just slip back south? We hear "It is a whole 'nother country" down there!!

You know, when I grew up I remember going hundreds and hundreds of miles in the Texas heat with the windows rolled down. There is one big difference. Those cars had vent wings. Cars now are designed for the windows being rolled up.

Those vent wings made a HUGE difference.

I had to drive back from Fort Worth two weeks ago with my family and a rear window riser that was broken with the window rolled down. This was my C Class. All hell broke loose after that and the car developed numerous gremlins and other problems.

With the windows down on that car it was just a blast of air in the face with no vent window to prevent it. I wonder how much they saved by deleting those vent windows?

Have a great day,

The sunroof/hat trick that SWMBO cooked up worked much in the same fashion...it enables you to drive with the window mostly shut yet, stil have some ventilation.

For sure!

For almost 15 years, I worked appliance and a/c service out of an unairconditioned truck or van. IIRC, those vehicles all had vent wings too. In the dog days of summer I generally went through three uniform shirts a day. Oh yeah, It was hot but I didn't find it all that burdensome...you just drank water all the time and tried to stay hydrated.

But, nowadays, there's one other big difference: I'm 48 not 24 and I'm an office worker now, not humpin' washers, dryers, reefers and stoves around all the time. So the last 75 miles of that trip from OKC took the stuffin's out of me. OF course, I found out later on that it was only 103° Monday afternoon. Geez.

If I had to do that over again, I would have started 30 min earlier and driven 5mph faster.

For a varitey of interesting reasons I didn't make it there...I got close but didn't quite make it. BTW, the SE39th st. address for I-35 Imports in the Yahoo Yellow Pages is TOTALLY incorrect.

Junkyard locations are the center of the dividing line....

Well, they both accept Mastercard, Visa, American Express, Discover, and have cash machines onsite. Or so I've heard.
