606 sticking throttle
I have a 1995 E300D
I was Driving home from work and when I got off the highway the throttle did not drop down when I got the light. it stayed at 1500 then dropped to 1000. at the next light it stayed at 2000. I pulled over and pushed the throttle linkage back in place and it when right down. it seems to work fine when the engine is cold anyone know what causes this?

Start with looking at throttle linkage (and springs) for binding and lubing same since it returned to normal idle levels when pushed manually.

384,000 miles is a lot of miles. Please tell us about what it's had done to it.

I greased all the linkages and springs. I just had to replace the gasket from where the oil filter stand bolts to the block. I was careful not to unplug any vacum lines or electric lines minus the ones I needed to. I cleaned out the intake also while doing this. I have had the intake off many times and know were all the lines go that I need to disconnect to remove the intake. I will give it a good 150 mile run for work Monday and see what happens.

well after a drive to and from work today it did the same thing on the way home. I took off the cross over pipe and checked all the vacuum lines and linkages. everything looks fine, and I regreased them. It seems like the spring is getting worn out. I found a adjustment on one of the linkages and moved it 1/8 inch. put it all back together and drive fine. lets see what tomorrow brings. after this then I can fix the AC

After a drive to my office it seems to shifting differently now. I might try to change the position of the adjuster closer to the orginal. Or look for a new spring.

Check your engine mounts. When worn out, especially the right one (passenger side) it will allow the engine to tilt to the right, thus pulling the accelerator cable with it, and causing the exact symptoms that you describe.

i checked the engine mounts and they are good. there is a little slack in the thottle cable at Idle. I think the spring is just worn out, when it gets hot it does not pull the throttle down. I added a small spring to help pull it down till I can get a new spring or whole bracket. I did get my ac working by charging up myself, and the auxillary fans now work.
any other ideas about the throttle would be great.
