i need advice

i am going to be painting my 300sd soon. i cant decide on a color. the colors im looking at are: black, white, gray, dark blue. i cant decide. i wanna do it black but it will make the car really hot all the time and it will allways look dirty unless i wash it every other day. white will look dirty too but will help hide any minor imperfections in the body work. gray looks really nice too and will also help with hiding the imperfections. dark blue will me about the same idea as black.all these colors look really nice but i cant decide. any recomendations? i think i spelled that wrong but oh well

MY general reaction is to keep whatever color it came with. Unless you are doing a complete restoration, there will be many areas not painted. Two different colors just looks bad. That said, much as I hate white paint, in Az., might be the color to go with if you just have to have a different color. I probably would sell and buy a car in the color I like. Probably cheaper and looks better in the long run. But it's YOUR car and you have to be happy with it.

I would have to agree with BobK - if you are changing colors that is an expen$ive undertaking to have done properly. You have to consider areas like the engine bay door jams, trunk - and if a true color change areas like under the carpet, headliner, behind the dash and on the firewall.

tan,it looks good with black and grey, but ive never seen a white one with tan. i would do it the original color but i cannot afford to get the oem paint. the place i am getting it done at is an ok paint job. its better than maaco. i plan on having the door jams done and the trunk lid inside, and the fuel door. if i ever have the engine out of it i will have them do the engine bay. i dont plan on selling this car anytime soon. i have put a years time and some $$$ in it since i bought it.

White and tan interior look very good together. Blue looks good. Mine is Diamond Blue Metallic. My bro in law had the darker blue. (can't think of the name)

Hands Down, ' Snowberry White'.....
An early 1970's MG color.... it looks white in a parking lot... but get it near any trees or grass and the very slight green added to it makes it GLOW...... I painted a VW this color and had people stopping me on the street asking what color it was....
I 'may' have mentioned it before...

What do you mean you can't get OEM paint OR you can't afford OEM paint. All the major automotive paint suppliers have formulas to match the original paint color. It shouldn't cost that much more to match the color. The body shop just orders the correct color.

Mesa is hotter than he** in the summer, keep the color light or keep the car garaged.

Maybe you should check around for a paint supplier.

Repainting the present color would seem to present the fewest technical problems, based on my experience.

I very much like both the white and Anthracite Grey shades Mercedes used for years...any paint shop can match these shades.

Good luck
