#$$! Cant get my Pistons out of my 87 300D calipers...WD 40?
$%^& Actually I got the old seals and pistons out, but when I reassembled them with the new seals, I didnt get either Dust Boot to sit perfectly in the ridge that lies underneath the caliper top. One had about 1/4" sticking out and the other about 1" sticking out.
So to them right, I tried removing the pistons again. They wont budge. I even resorted to sticking (CRINGE) vise grips on them and trying to tap them out. Now i have serrated outer edges.I soaked them in brake fluid for an hour to see if that would loosen them up...no luck.
I know the obvious thing to do is to pump them out using the cars hydraulic system, but i am a little nervous since I have ABS and dont know what this migh do the accumulator when they finally "Pop"
Is there an obvious soultion I am overlooking? WD 40? Finally how much psi is brake pressure? I might be able to jury rig up something with my air compressor....
Finally why doesnt some one ever machine a threaded hole in the piston bottoms so a bolt can be screwed in and used with a impact puller or something...This is Mercedes, after all....
