well i recived my packages. but,one of them was damaged. missing parts! i have filed a claim to ups and the place i bought my parts. it makes me mad though that the guy would walk up to my door and drop off the package when the bottom of the end was split oper and the box looked like i jumped all over it! and now that i look at the box i found another hole that has been taped. do these guys go 4x4 with all these packages in the truck or what?

wha hppens is the person or persons who load the larg trucks do so improperly
and the packages get smushed it's commen unfochently. just got off work "UPS" there more worried about packages get some place on time than how it gets there

Ive seen them, if its less than 25 lbs, and not awkward, they throw it around.

If you ever send something more than 25 lbs, you should double box it. Actually according to UPS guidelines, everything should be double boxed, and then 4-6 inches of padding around it or something like that.

At least they didnt loose your stuff in transit, which really sucks. This happened to me, Fedex lost 100lbs of Mercedes 600SL brake calipers, the box broke open and spilled because they were probably throwing it around. Then it went to overgoods. They lost it, so they sent it there. I called them every hour for two weeks, and they finally found it, then got it to me. Unfortunately none of it was insured because fedex.com wont insure packages being returned to sender/shipper. I was using my account, so it only made things worse. In the end, they lost some brake pads, so I claimed the 100 dollars, and the shipping charge. It was a nightmare, but if you stick with it, you can get the money out of them.

Maybe it is a little different with UPS, but it should be the same. Remember, heavy stuff, double box it.

I had a similar experience with the post office. I won't use them unless I know for sure they can't break or lose something.
From what I've heard from Fed-Ex, if you ship ground, it's all handled by machine until the package goes directly into a truck for delivery.

Hey, that's not bad. The driver here used to drop stuff off along the hiway 1/2 mile from my house because he didn't want to drive up the driveway. I had $1000 of computer parts sitting there one day... of course the $25 case the parts went in had to be signed for (had to track the driver down to get it from him)!

Although UPS and Fedex are not totally innocent, the issue is really with the shipper.

Let's not kid ourselves, UPS and Fedex both handle a bazillion cartons per day. To think that our precious cargo is going to experience TLC while enroute is off the mark.

My experience is that shippers do not do what they should to pack shipment well, and that results is damage.

Like I say, the majority of the time, damage is the result the corrugated boxes used, as well as the dunnage, and how it is packed, and less how UPS and Fedex handle the shipments.

My 2 cents.
