Question Instument cluster question

Does anyone know if the instrument cluster (left side with fuel, oil, and water) from a 78 or 80 300D will work on a later 300D like my 85? I see that the temp is in F and the oil pressure reads in psi but I don't really care about that if it'll fit in there and work ok.... my oil guage leaks and I need a new one.

Does yours have a tach ?

Is there some reason you don't want to just put a new guage in it ? Or correct the leaking line to it ?

It should fit/work just fine.

Pull the whole instrument panel from the dash and then remove the bad fuel/temp/oil cluster from the instrument panel assembly. Replace it with the working/non-leaking cluster from the donor.

You don't have to mess with the tach or speedo clusters.

Please don't junk that leaking gauge assembly either, send it to me and I'll see if I can resolder the bourdon tube...I've got a couple on the workbench to practice on, can't hurt to have one more.

I figure that one of these days, every one of those gauges will be leaking and there won't be any more parts cars to get them from. They'll have to be repaired then.

Yeah, I have a tach but my plan was to just transplant the fuel/water/oil part onto my cluster. It's the actual gauge that leaks so yes, I'll send you the old one to play with and hopefully fix R Leo. Hopefully I'll be doing that pretty soon, I'll PM you for an address when I get done. When they're all worn out and you're making a fortune fixing them for people I want the discount price!
