W123 Front Sunroof Seal/Wind Deflector
I am trying to replace the front sunroof seal on an 83 300D. It seems you need to be a contortionist to replace this seal.
It would be helpful to remove the wind deflector first to gain unrestricted access to the slot in the front of the roof that holds the seal. 1. I cannot figure out how to remove the wind deflector without fear of breaking brittle plastic parts. The MBZ shop manual I have describes it but I think they changed the design later and the procedure outlined does not fit the current design of the deflector. The manual shows some little clips that seem to retain the ends of the deflector. My deflector does not have any obvious clips between the roof and the deflector hinge. My deflector has holes at both ends that seem to allow access to something but how to you get the end of this design off? 2. Once this deflector is off (or NOT) how exactly is the front seal supposed to fit in the channel? Are there two "flaps " that are supposed to fit in the groove on the roof? Any help would be appreciated Rick
