can a 85 sel tranny be used in a 83TD

I have the oppty. to get a tranny from a 85 sel that originally had a v-8. The model # is a 722.311. I need a 722.315 for my 83TD wagon.. Will it work and wheres the big difference. Thanks Mike

I'm pretty sure it won't bolt up. Speedo drive is different. You really don't want second gear start in your TD.

I bet you could swap the tailhouseing and the valve body..
If it would bolt up...
