Why No 300TDs after `87?
Perhaps someone here knows the answer.....
Despite MB sending diesel sedans this way up until `99, why did they stop sending wagons here after `87? Just a curious wagon nut wanting to know.

Correct me if I wrong but according to the "Mercedes Benz E-Class Owners Bible, 1986-1995" after 1987 MB stopped sending diesel wagons and also sedans too and I think also the 300SDL, because MB had trouble meeting California emissions and because the market for the diesels were highest in Calif. (they sold more MB's in Calif.) they very likely said, screw this!
MB reintroduced the diesel to the US in 1990, I think. Don't have my book here but you can find this book at any good book store and probably right here at Fastlane too. It's a great book written exclusive for the 124. I'm not sure why no diesel wagons, maybe someone else has the answer. Last edited by Sooty Taillight; 06-08-2004 at 03:39 PM. |
