What to buy

I am hoping I can get some info here about what will meet my needs, if anything.
I live in NYC and am on the road 6 months a year, the west and Mexico. At the moment I have 2 vehicles and would like to get it down to one. I have a 3,000 pound trailer, a 93 Buick and an 85 Dodge Sportsmobile. The Dodge and trailer are stored in Arizona 6 months a year the Buick is used in NYC and to drive back and forth to Az. I also park in the streets of the city.
Basically what I'm looking for is something that can pull a 3,000 pound trailer. I would like to go older as I park in the streets. Is there a Mercedes that can do this? I am familar with older cars and do most of the work/maintance on the Dodge and the Buick just runs with regular filter changes.
If there is something that will meet my needs what do I need to look for as far as assesing the car.
I also have a BMW/Mercedes shop in the city and I'm friends with the owner.
Thanks for any help.

I don't think any old MB car could pull a 3,000 trailer. A 560SEL *could* be it would probably wreck the transmission and rear suspension. I would recomend an older G class if you can find one.
