Rusted metal diesel lines

I just noticed that the metal diesel lines and the brake line that run down the driver side of the car are badly rusted near the back of the car. Has anyone replaced these? Can I splice in new sections or should the entire line get replaced? Thanks!

I have spliced diesel lines by cutting out putting a piece of rubber tubing with two clamps at each end. Just make sure that the tubing is not exposed to debris that may be kicked up on the road. I would consider putting a new section of metal line if you need to replace more than a foot.

For the brake line, there's no other way than to replace the whole line. I just hope for you that it's not the long one (major PITA to change...)

Yep, its the long one-

So any idea what size the metal diesel line is? Is this something I'll be able to ask for at the local auto parts store?

The problem will be bending it to fit without kinking it. If it was me, I think I would just replace it with rubber hose.

Sure am glad I moved out of the rust belt. I hate dealing with rust. Seems like there is just no way to win the rust battle.

I'd consider searching the boneyards for a set of lines that aren't rusted out. I've been tempted to do that for my vegi lines.
