ebay screwed up this time...
went on ebay just now to do a local search for MB's for sale, and to my surprise, Ebay has gotten rid of the "region" option in the search. you can no longer search in a particular city.
i tried closing IE and restarting it, but its still the same. maybe its just temporary, but if its not, there's no way im combing through 400+ MB's for sale just to find the ones in texas! |
It still works for me. eBay did change the layout of the screens, there is a checkbox on the left side of the screen that says items near me. But then again, we are talking about eBay, so no telling what is going on.
I always wished they would add more regions, unless you are near a major city, they are not much help. |
you have to select that option on the 'customize options displayed above' page linked from just below where your region selection used to be. it still works. plus you can get rid of dumb choices like show gifts or items in US $

I've had trouble ever since they changed some software
a few weeks ago. I've tried to buy two items for my wife's new old SAAB since then (upgrading from LPT to FPT), and both times the PayPal seemed to mess things up, and now the second seller doesn't seem to be responding to emails.

I Think Autotrader's software does a better job in terms of location and distance. You can search in a radius--say 200 or 300 miles, whereas eBay just gives you citys/states to choose from.

I can't find either option
So are you guys searching on the EBAY home page or the EbayMotors homepage? I usually go into Ebay Motors and immediately hit the Search tab. I would enter Mercedes and pick my region....which is not an option now. Where is the check the box or the "customize options" that are mentioned above?

Ebay's region choices still leave a lot to be desired. I often check the Portland-OR section and get stuff as far away as Ashland which is over 250 miles from Portland. Even though Oregon is not that big of a state, there are places that are 300-500 miles from Portland within Oregon. Ebay needs to have an Oregon-other-than-Portland selection. Same thing goes for Washington.

I live in Riverside. Some listings for Riverside are under Los Angeles, Some under Orange County. It's a tossup. OK, I search 2 areas, but I would also drive to the bay area, Las Vegas, or Sacramento if there was something interesting. So how come I can't look at all of California and Nevada without looking at Baltimore or Chicago.
The other thing is that I have yet to see a deal on eBay. My daily driver was parked on a cul de sac in Tustin, with a sign in the window. It was a one in a million chance that I got lost in the wrong place at the wrong time. My $200 project 220D was in the local recycler newspaper. So if you are looking for a mate go where the good looking ones hang out, the ugly ones take out the personal ads. There are some real problems with car shopping on eBay, as detailed in other threads. |

I haven't been taking my medication. I am thinking about removing all cancerous skin in that 1969 220D. That would leave the windshield and the front part of the roof. It's just the skin that's cancerous, it was parked near the beach never run over salted roads. Replacements for the doors, fenders hood and related components can be bolted on. Then a flatbed can be built.
Cool huh! a 115 half car/half truck. It would be handy for hauling hay and other bulky items. A great little truck for runs to the self service salvage yard or the feed store. Hardest part would be closing off the back of the cab. A sacrilige? perhaps, but the alternatives are junking it, or lots of bondo. That little 2.2 diesel purrs so nice. And the press preheat pedal, turn key, pull plunger, start up routine is way cool. I should go back to the doctor and get my prescriptions renewed. |
